Collector notes
In Utah, the Jurassic Morrison Formation (around 150 million years old) is famous for its abundant petrified wood, particularly in the Brushy Basin Member. The trees are heavily permineralized with quartz and feature vibrant colors. Because of surrounding volcanic ash layers in the rock, fossils from this formation can sometimes be slightly radioactive.
