This beautiful Wiggins Fork Agate Limb Cast has been partially polished on one face to exhibit the beautiful cloudy coloration and banding of the Agate. The remainder of this piece was left “rough” to show its unique and completely natural form.

Wiggins Fork Agate Limb Casts are found at about the 9,000 ft. level in the mountains north of Dubois, Wyoming, specifically Wiggins Creek. These are formed when wood, often a limb, is buried and then the organic matter is replaced by agate, creating a stone replica of the original wood structure. The agate can be various types, including hollow crystal lined, iris, green moss, water-level banded, tube, and amethyst lined.

It was collected from the Late Miocene Pungo River Formation off the coast of North Carolina, making it approximately 14 million years old! Adult Megalodon teeth were typically 4 to 5 inches. Teeth over 6 inches are very rare and represent the largest of this extinct marine species.

Carbon County Petrified Wood from Lake Uinta in Utah, is a remarkable fossilized wood formed from ancient trees in the Eocene Era. Many specimens from this region are partially encased with stromatolite, a rare, layered formation created by prehistoric microbial life.

Charoite is a is a rare potassium, barium, calcium strontium, sodium, hydrogen-rich silicate mineral. Its color ranges from a deep purple to a lilac pink and is commonly found with inclusions of Quartz (white) and Manganese (black). It is found exclusively within the Chara River area of the Murun Massif in Russia. It forms from limestone through contact metamorphism. 

This particular slab has been polished on one side to exhibit its exquisite color and inclusions. The other side is flat an “raw” to show it’s natural colors.
