Tuscarora petrified wood is a classic fossilized juniper from the Oligocene epoch, sourced primarily from the Toe Jam Creek Formation in Elko County, Nevada. Colors: Displays light cream, tan, brown, deep orange, and red shades caused by mineral impurities during permineralization. Structure: Retains fine wood grain, annual growth rings, and sometimes sparkling quartz crystal pockets. Origin: Formed approximately 23 to 34 million years ago in the volcanic ash-rich deposits around the historic Tuscarora Mining District.
