A Crooked River limb cast is a type of agated or chalcedony-filled fossilized wood from the South Fork of the Crooked River area in Crook County, Oregon. Dating back roughly 30 to 38 million years to the Oligocene or late Eocene epochs, these unique specimens formed when volcanic ash buried tree branches, burning away the original wood and leaving empty molds that later filled with silica-rich minerals.
