**Mammoths: Giant Wanderers of the Ice Age**

**Mosasaurus: The Apex Predator of the Cretaceous Seas**

The Mosasaurus reigned as one of the top predators in the ancient seas approximately 82 to 66 million years ago. Measuring up to 17 meters in length, this massive carnivore was equipped with a long, streamlined body, powerful tail, and sharp, conical teeth designed to crush prey. Unlike dinosaurs, the Mosasaurus was a true sea-dweller, using its paddle-like limbs and tail to navigate the warm, shallow waters that once covered much of the globe.

Fossils of the Mosasaurus reveal a diet as varied as its hunting skills—it preyed on fish, marine reptiles, and even ammonites. Its large, powerful jaws and double-hinged skull allowed it to swallow large prey whole, showcasing its dominance in its marine ecosystem. The discovery of Mosasaurus fossils, including near-complete skeletons, has provided crucial information about marine environments during the Late Cretaceous, cementing its place as one of the most iconic prehistoric marine predators.
